Jill and I went to a little sushi restaurant the other day.
As we were sitting there, this cute little girl at the table next to ours, turned around, saw us, and her eyes got huge.
She started smiling, waving at us and saying, “Ni hao!”
We said, “Ni hao” in return and her mom said, “Hello.”
She then said, “Hello” also and we replied with the same.
After asking her mom, using pantomime, if we could take her picture, Jill hopped up and stood beside her.
We said a few more words of English and then we ate our food and they left.
Sometimes it is fun being an expatriate and looking different than almost everyone else that lives in China.
