Jill and I woke up at 5:30 am and decided to go for our walk after drinking our green smoothies.
We usually walk by the canal at night, around 7 pm, and it is fairly busy with lots of people fishing and walking their dogs.
This is the first time we’ve walked in the morning and we really enjoyed it.
There weren’t as many people around and the shopping center that we end up at, Solana, was closed and totally empty.
It was a nice change to the constant hustle and bustle of Beijing.
There was the usual group of fisherman, elderly people just relaxing and people doing their daily swim.
However, there was a group we had never seen before our morning walk.
It was these men, and their doggies, who had taken their birds out for their own morning constitutional.
The men laughed when they saw me doing a video of it and smiled and waved as we finished and walked away after we said, “Xie xie” for letting us take the video of this little slice of Beijing morning life.
One never knows what they will see when they wake up early, explore, and keep their eyes open to the sites and sounds of Beijing.
